In a significant stride towards contributing to the body of knowledge, over 20 students presented their research findings to peers, faculty, and evaluators during the 2024 Student Research Congress held on July 29 at the Apayao State College-Luna Campus. The event was organized by the Research & Development Unit.

Dr. Rema Bascos-Ocampo, the Campus Academic Dean, underscored the importance of student research in advancing knowledge and driving innovation. Similarly, Dr. Maria Christina Z. Manicad, the Director for R&D and Special Projects, highlighted the benefits of conducting and presenting research, which includes promoting academic excellence, enhancing research skills, encouraging innovation and creativity, fostering collaboration and networking, celebrating student achievements, supporting professional development, and promoting research culture.

Ten papers were awarded in recognition of their relevance and impact on the academic community, marking a sense of fulfillment and motivation for the student researchers.

Prof. Evelyn P. Alvarez, Director for Student Affairs and Services, conveyed her closing remarks through Ms. Arlene Joy T. Llantada. “Let us continue to collaborate, innovate, and push the boundaries of our knowledge,” she urged.

The research categories included Socio-Cultural and Education (Non-AANR); Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR); and Food, Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology (FIEET). The esteemed panel of evaluators for each category were:

• Non-AANR: Dr. Rey Carl V. Arimas, Dr. Ruth A. Tumaneng, and Mrs. Madelyn Maslang

• AANR: Dr. Ariel Alcones, Dr. Raponcel D. Saguilot, and Ms. Gigi C. Pamittan

• FIEET: Dr. Randy Cabilatazan, Dr. Leandro B. Alla, and Mr. Mac Ornoc Lamao
